At Resistance Labs, we engineer software grounded in data sovereignty and local-first architecture. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information in connection with the ATLAS Workspace desktop application, community catalog, and associated web services at resistancelabs.tech.
ATLAS Workspace stores your notes, books, video annotations, spatial canvases, study decks, and flashcards directly on your computer's local filesystem in standard markdown and SQLite formats. Your knowledge repository belongs entirely to you and does not replicate to Resistance Labs servers by default.
1. Data Controller & Contact Information
The data controller responsible for the processing of personal data under this policy is:
Resistance Labs
Software Engineering Studio
Amman, Jordan
Electronic Mail: abdallah@resistancelabs.tech
Founder / Lead Engineer: Abdallah Arabi
2. Data We Do Not Collect
To maintain zero surveillance footprint:
- No Local File Ingestion: We do not inspect, transmit, or retain your local vault contents, files, PDFs, EPUBs, video files, or personal card databases.
- No Invasive Analytics: We do not deploy third-party advertising cookies, cross-site trackers, behavioral ad pixels, or biometric monitoring technologies.
- No Sale of Data: We never sell, rent, monetize, or trade user data or usage records to third-party data brokers.
3. Data We Collect & How It Is Used
A. Account & Subscription Information (ATLAS Pro)
When you subscribe to ATLAS Pro, payment processing is handled securely by our merchant of record and payment providers (e.g., Stripe). Resistance Labs receives only transaction confirmations, subscription tier status, and billing email addresses. We never receive or store full payment card numbers or banking credentials.
B. Optional Cloud & AI Processing (Anthropic Claude API)
ATLAS Workspace features optional AI study accelerators—including lecture-to-markdown transcription, automated active recall flashcard generation, concept synthesis, and practice exam construction. When you invoke these features:
- Transmission: Only the specific text excerpt, question prompt, or transcript required to execute the user-initiated request is sent over an encrypted TLS connection.
- Provider: Processing is executed via the Anthropic Claude API.
- Zero Model Training: Under our enterprise commercial terms with Anthropic, data submitted through the Claude API is not used to train or refine foundation models.
- Ephemeral Retention: AI inputs and outputs are processed ephemerally and returned directly to your local application window for storage on your device.
C. Community Marketplace Submissions
If you voluntarily choose to publish a study deck or topic pack to the ATLAS Community Marketplace, your published deck content, author nickname, description, and selected topic tags are uploaded to our public CDN repository to allow other community members to download them. You should never include private personal data in published community packs.
D. Anonymous Diagnostics & Crash Reports
To ensure binary stability across Windows, macOS, and Linux, the application may collect non-identifiable technical crash telemetry (operating system version, error trace, and architecture type). This collection can be toggled off at any time in application settings.
4. Data Retention & Erasure
Because all workspace data is stored locally on your hard disk, you retain unconditional control over data retention. Deleting a topic, card, or vault from ATLAS Workspace immediately removes the corresponding files from your storage.
For subscription accounts or community catalog removals, you may submit an erasure request at any time by emailing abdallah@resistancelabs.tech. All related remote records will be purged within thirty (30) business days.
5. International Compliance & User Rights
Depending on your location, you may have statutory rights under the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), or applicable local data protection statutes, including:
- The right to access and receive a copy of your personal data held by us.
- The right to rectify inaccurate personal information.
- The right to request complete erasure of your account records.
- The right to withdraw consent for cloud-assisted features at any time.
6. Security Measures
We employ industry-standard technical measures to safeguard the integrity of our software releases and network communications, including TLS 1.3 encryption for all network traffic, automated dependency vulnerability audits, and cryptographically verified binaries hosted on GitHub Releases.
7. Policy Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect enhancements to our products or evolving regulatory requirements. Any modifications will be posted to this page with an updated effective date.
